Synopsis:
A teenage runaway disappears from the streets. The only people that care, or even notice, are her two best friends who are also runaways. For reasons of their own, they can’t go to the police for help.

They seek out Michael Sykora, a software designer by day and hit man by night. Known on the streets as The Ghost, Michael has a reputation for taking on the twisted criminals. Rapists. Child molesters. He has never been hired to find the lost. Until now.

Michael teams up with ex-prostitute Nicki and full-time hit man Sean. Together they bend the rules of the justice system in order to find a young girl few people care about. In the process, they uncover a world where salvation comes with a price tag and God’s words are used to incite fear in a congregation of believers.

Title: No Justice
Series: The Michael Sykora Series Book # 1
Author: Darcia Helle
Published: June 13th, 2009
Page Count: 224 pages
Genre: Suspense

Synopsis:
How far would you go to right a wrong?

For Michael Sykora, killing started as blind rage. Then it became something he’s good at. To most of those who know him, Michael is a software designer, a smart but average guy with a workaholic nature. To a chosen few, Michael is a part-time hit man whose specialty is eliminating hard-core criminals.
Michael has managed to keep his two personas separate. Until now. When Nicki, a close friend, gets into trouble, Michael steps in to help. Having lost his fiancé to a brutal crime, Michael will do whatever necessary to keep from losing another woman in his life.
At one time or another, don’t we all wish we could do the things our Justice system cannot or will not? What would it take to push you over the edge?

Excerpt from Killing Instinct:
Sean Riley looked down at the woman he’d been hired to kill. Even before he’d partnered with Michael Sykora and tamed his deadly skills, he’d disliked killing women. Back then, he’d probably have turned down this job. Not that he’d have altered the outcome. Someone else always stood next in line, wanting the money and willing to kill for it.
Even sleeping, with her jet-black hair scattered across the pillow and a drop of drool slipping from the corner of her mouth, her beauty took his breath away. This woman, whose name was Maria Milan, should be dead by now. Jake, the man who’d paid for her murder, wanted her to die slowly. To suffer. Jake had specified the use of a knife, keeping the plunges slow and only deep enough to shatter her nervous system. Keep her alive until the last possible moment.
Jake did not have balls enough to do it himself.
He wanted photos. A recording of her screams. He’d asked for video, as if Sean was a slice-and-dice movie producer instead of a high-priced hit man.
Sean stood in the shadows of the bedroom, watching Maria sleep. He’d done the unthinkable. For the first time in his long, restless and oddly successful career, he’d had sex with the intended victim. More than that. He’d gotten involved. He’d fallen for this woman who’d been marked to endure excruciating horrors at his own hands.
He shifted in the darkness, wishing he could crawl back under the sheet. He already missed the feel of her skin pressed against his own. With a quiet sigh, he tugged his pants on. He had a job to do.
Fully dressed, he gazed back at Maria. The moonlight fell across her face. She didn’t stir. Her beauty glowed. He knew things about her now. And she knew things about him. They’d become tangled in ways he hadn’t expected.
Sean went out to the kitchen and grabbed the backpack he’d left by the door. He flipped the light on, squinting at the brightness. When his eyes adjusted, he checked the contents. One roll of heavy duct tape. A few small towels for use as gags. Rope. Zip ties. A full syringe. His Black Ops knife. He fingered the metal, thought about the meaning of what he needed to do. What he might not have done a year ago. What it would all mean to him, to his future. To Maria.
He stepped back into the bedroom. Maria had rolled onto her side. Her hair spilled over her cheek. The sheet fell away, exposing flesh he’d lingered over not long ago. A smile played on his lips. He’d enjoy this job, this killing, more than anyone had a right to.
With a last look over his shoulder, he left Maria behind and headed out to his car.

Keira's Corner exclusive Interview with Lyn Croft

Interview between Keira Kroft and Lyn Croft

Welcome to Keira’s Corner, where there is always chocolate, and lots and lots of coffee.

Keira: You have a story out through Hellfire Publishing entitled Blood Lilies ~ Bloodlines. What is that about?

Blood and Lilies - Bloodlines is the first installment of a tale about a girl who finds out she is the key to the gates of heaven and hell. She discovers she is living amongst demons, vampyres, and the Nephilim. Everything she knew is stripped away as she finds herself betrayed by ones she loves most, while trying to embark on a journey with her new found love. Hunted and scared, she fights to stay alive against an evil queen and her loyal minions; only to discover there is more to her existence than she is being told.  Who can you trust when everyone wants to sacrifice you for the greater good?

Keira: What do you wear, to write?

Lyn: I prefer my pajamas, but I’m usually casual in jeans and a tee.

Keira: Is writing your only talent?

Lyn: Nope! I have many. To start, I’m super talented at being clumsy. I hear I’m a good cook too. I can make a mean Agua Chile…

Keira: Where in the Hell did you find time to write?

Lyn: I don’t sleep. ;) I truly wish I had more time, and I hope someday I am afforded the time to write more. Being a single mom, with a full time job takes up the majority of my time. So, when I am writing, it’s usually till after midnight, and I will spend an entire Saturday and/or Sunday on the laptop.

Keira: Why are you a writer?

Lyn: Because I love it. I can’t explain the awe of how stories take shape in my head, and come together on paper. I’m so blessed to be able to do this. I just love it.

Keira: If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Lyn: Stephen King. Not only is he an amazing writer, but he’s dedicated and focused, and helps others with his experience. He persevered when most would have given up. His journey and accomplishments are my motivation to keep working, and never give up. Plus, he thinks up the best stuff to get under your skin. I love it!

Keira: Do you use a particular writing method?

Lyn: I like to outline and summarize my books before I write them. ’Blood and Lilies’ was not done this way, however. I wrote just started writing a few chapters in the middle, and then built the book around that. No outline, summary, or any clue where the characters were going to take me. It was a very interesting journey.

Keira: What time of day, do you write best?

In the evenings. That is when the house is peaceful, and the kiddo is in bed, and I can finally concentrate.

Keira: Do you use one or more pen names?

I currently have only one pen name. That’s not too say another one may pop up somewhere else someday…

Keira: What advice would you give to an unpublished writer?

Don’t give up, especially if writing is something you love to do. Do it for yourself, and for nobody else. Because at the end of the day, it is you doing what makes you happy.

Let’s get personal…

Keira: What is your favorite food?
Lyn: Sushi!
Keira: What is your guilty Pleasure?
Lyn: Video Games
Keira: What is your favorite Smell?
Lyn: Dragons Blood Incense. Hmmmmm
Keira: If you could change one your physical feature? Would you? What would it be?
Lyn: Nope, I’m made just the way God intended. ;)
Keira: What is your favorite color?
Lyn: Purple
Keira: What is your favorite day of the week?
Lyn: Sunday
Keira: What is your favorite animal?
Lyn: My pit Jasper… ;)
Keira: Can you tell us a secret?
Lyn: I see dead people.
Keira: Do you have pets?
Lyn: Yes, five dogs, one kitten, a boyfriend…Wait, does that count?
Keira: What do you consider a household staple?
Lyn: Tea! Lots and lots of it.
Keira: What are you reading?
Lyn: I am right at the end of Shadow of the Rose: Adversarius by M.L. Chesley.  Great Book by the way!
Keira: Can you share your blurb with us?

Lyn: But of course! I would love to.

One lucky commenter will win a free e-copy of Blood and Lilies ~ Bloodlines

Excerpt:
But in that short, torturously way too short, second that I got to look at him, something odd stuck out in my mind. He was effortlessly balancing a sharpie on the tip of his left index finger, looking very bored. Too bored. Hmph.
I refuse to succumb to the charms of a man just because they speak in an alluring accent and look completely devilish. And hot. That will be the last time I ever let myself fall prey to his cunning tricks.
… I hope.
As the novelty of surprise wore off the longer I sat listening to Mr. James go on and on about whatever, I couldn’t shake this eerie feeling that started creeping up my spine. For whatever reason, the new guy was beginning to freak me out. I had this strange alarming sensation in my gut, as if telling me he was dangerous. But all of it was nothing compared to what I felt out in the hallway after class ended.
I had slowly stood up to gather my things, hoping that everyone, and I mean everyone, would leave and I could get to my next class without speaking to anyone. Or at least one particular person.
But as soon as I walked out the door, he was there next to me, making me almost jump to the roof like a cat with my hair standing on end. He looked amused and wore a very adorable smirk. He had backed me up against the lockers, pinning me with only his aqua eyes and as he leaned down, both hands in his pockets, I stood there trapped by my own wonder at what was about to happen. But all he did was lean into the left side of my hair and took a long inhale of breath through his nose, like he was smelling me.
“Mmmm” was all he moaned, before he gracefully skipped backwards like a mountain lion and walked away, leaving me now completely and utterly freaked. What the heck was that? That had to be the creepiest thing I have ever experienced.
And hottest.
But I refuse to acknowledge that part.
I began to dread going to anymore classes today, afraid he would be there. It all came to nothing though, because it turns out, I didn’t end up seeing him again the entire rest of the day. Thank the Lord! Something was finally going my way.
The next day, I was too afraid to walk into Literature. I stood there at the door, hand over my heart, trying to calm my nerves down. I don’t know what it was, but something about that guy has me frightened. I asked Zaylie and Desmond about him, but none of them saw him. Zaylie doesn’t even remember seeing him in class yesterday. That right there had me reeling, expecting to see him anywhere I turned and being the only one who did. If I’m starting to see ghosts, someone please just kill me now.

Excerpt:
“Thanks guys. I’m gonna miss you SO much,” I said, as tears stung my eyes again.
“We’re going to miss you too! What are we going to do without you our last, crucial year? We’re finally going to be seniors,” Lia said, her eyes tearing as soon as she saw mine.
Jeremy looked at me, and a single tear grazed his cheek. He quickly turned away and lifted his glasses, quickly wiping his face with his shirt. That was the first time I’d ever seen Jeremy get emotional.
“You guys will be fine. And it won’t be forever. I promise to email and send pictures.”
“You better,” Lia said, wagging her finger at me.
And then… something happened. A sudden euphoric feeling; an unexplainable heat shot through every cell in my body. My pulse quickened, along with my breath, and tingles pricked my skin. A
rush of adrenaline flooded my veins and my surroundings began to haze. I grasped onto the edge of the bed, taking in long, deep breaths.
“Hey, are you okay?” Jeremy asked, scooting over to me, grabbing hold of my shoulders.
“Emma, what’s wrong?” Lia called, jumping behind me, pounding my back.
Hello! I’m not choking! I wanted to speak those words, but I couldn’t answer them. It was like all the breath had been sucked out of my lungs.
Then…there was a knock at the door, and we all turned to look.
