My reaction to Tuesday night’s episode of The Devils Ride.

My reaction to Tuesday night’s episode of The Devils Ride.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT of The Devil’s Ride, Season Finale, aired Tuesday, June 12, 2011

About the Devils Ride

 It's a bike club. It's a brotherhood. It's The Devils Ride, premiering Tuesday, May 8, at 10 p.m. E/P on Discovery Channel.

For the first time Discovery goes inside the world of motorcycle clubs with the members of San Diego's Laffing Devils.

The Devils Ride sports a diverse crew, but one bonded by a commitment to each other and the club. Meet Laffing Devils president Gipsy, who must balance the club's growing ranks with pressure from older members to maintain the status quo. An ex-Marine who served in Iraq, Gipsy credits the club for helping him deal with the emotional scars of war.

Then there's club vice-president Billy the Kid, who waits in the wings wondering if he'll have the chance to lead the Laffing Devils.

And younger member Snubz breaks all the biker stereotypes with his degree in finance and a full-time corporate job.

The Devils Ride finds the Laffing Devils not only in open conflict internally, but also at risk of losing their homebase. The Laffing Devils' unofficial headquarters is the auto body shop owned by fellow member Hawkster, but police pressure might force the club to find a new home. Moving is going to cost the club money, so Gipsy seeks out security work for the Laffing Devils guarding a liquor store in a very dangerous part of town. Will their new responsibilities pit the club against one another?

The Devils Ride also covers what would-be members must do to prove themselves to the club before they can be "patched in." In order to earn his spot, prospect Charles is out on an official club task of protecting some of the club's wives and girlfriends, or Ol' Ladies, on a night out. When a pushy photographer gets too close for comfort, blood boils and the situation gets physical. Will Charles' actions protecting the women earn him the respect of the young blood and, more importantly, earn him his cut?

My physical reaction

I watch every episode of The Devils Ride on Discovery, glued to the edge of my seat. The show is gripping, exciting and driven by humanity. It’s hard but I have to wait until the next day so that hubby and I can watch it together. Sometimes I watch it and then just re-watch it with him, shhhhh, hee hee very sneaky, I know.

This last Tuesday I decided to wait and watch with my hubby because the commercial led you to believe that someone died and that would be hard to keep quiet about or to myself J. I figured it was clever advertising techniques, but I waited to be safe. As we watched this episode I kept wondering what was going to happen. Also, I kept bugging my husband, I repeatedly said, “there is no one way someone died, this is a reality show for crissakes”.

Usually when we watch TV shows, we try to guess who died. But we agreed that there was no way had a human being died and it was being announced on a television show. Just about the entire episode played and it was fantastic, then just when we thought the episode was over, they skipped to three weeks later and they showed the cameos of Laffing Devil members talking about how this death affected their lives. Finally somebody said that a club member, Juice—that was trying so hard to turn his life around—had a heart attack and died. I feel sick just talking about it, my heart fell and tears flooded my eyes. My husband and I just sat there devastated. We only spoke to each other to agree that we were done watching TV for the day. We didn’t know him of course, but it was way more heartbreaking when you’re watching a reality show and one of your favorite characters dies, because they are dying for real...no encore :(

Rest in Peace Juice. My heartfelt sympathies to his club and family.

  1. Get a life? We are talking about someone who lost their life at a fairly young age. Someone who wanted to become a better person.

Except for Dallas coming back in TV. This is my new favorite show. I cried when Juice died. I knew it was him before they said so because quite a bit of that episode had Juice in it and talked about his health issues in great detail, etc. Also, his dad had come to visit. So, I knew something had to have happened to him. So sad....
